Violent incidents continued in the Ile-de-France region since Saturday, April 18, following a motorcycle incident involving the police in Villeneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine department). The latest clashes were reported in Villeneuve-La-Garenne, Nanterre, Gennevilliers, and Clichy (Haut-de-Seine department) overnight (local time) between Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22. Young individuals reportedly threw fireworks at the police and burned several cars while the most significant incident occurred in Gennevilliers, where protesters set fire to the Paul-Langevin elementary school. Similar incidents were reported in Asnières, Meudon, and Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine department) between Monday, April 20, and April 21. At least ten individuals have been arrested including seven in Clichy, two in Rueil-Malmaison, and one in Villeneuve-la-Garenne.

Related clashes are possible in the coming days.

Context

On Saturday, April 18, police were reportedly involved in a motorcycle chase with an individual in Villeneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine department), resulting in a crash that seriously injured the individual's leg. Following the accident, several localized clashes have been reported across Ile-de-France.
