Event

As of Friday, April 24, heavy rainfall has resulted in flooding and landslides that have affected the southwestern regions of the country since Friday, April 17, killing 15 people and displacing at least 36,000 others. Search and rescue operations are ongoing as of April 24, while 20 individuals have been reported missing.

Associated transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the affected areas.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
