Heavy storms, which started at 03:15 (local time) on Monday, May 4, caused widespread damage to property, blackouts, and traffic disruptions in several districts of Nakhon Ratchasima province. According to local media, Suranaree Technology University Hospital sustained damages to the windows of its front building and dozens of trees around the hospital toppled due to the storm. The falling trees also brought down ten power poles at the hospital's second gate. Many vehicles are reported to have overturned along the city's ring road and were blocking traffic. Approximately 20 people were injured in the storm.
Residual disruptions are possible in the affected area in the coming days.
Individuals in Thailand are advised to monitor weather forecasts and to adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. potential evacuation orders). In the event of flooding, remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of water is enough to knock over an adult.
