Afghanistan Alerte de sécurité

Two security force members injured in multiple IED detonations in Kabul’s PD4 on May 11; further attacks possible over the near term

TIMEFRAME expected from 11/5/2020, 12h00 until 13/5/2020, 11h59 (Asia/Kabul). COUNTRY/REGION Kabul

Two members of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) were wounded in a dual improvised explosive device (IED) detonation in Kabul's PD4 on Monday, May 11. An initial magnetic device was attached to an NDS vehicle and detonated in the Tahmaskan Square area of the capital. Following the initial explosion, at least three further devices have reportedly also detonated in the area, a tactic often used to target those responding to the initial incident. No further casualties have so far been reported. Security forces have cordoned off the area and advised people to avoid the vicinity.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.

Individuals in Kabul are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.

The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
