The Police Command in Benue confirmed that unidentified gunmen, suspected to be herders, attacked Tse-Haaga village in Guma local government area (Benue state) on Tuesday, May 12. According to residents, the gunmen stormed the village at around 17:00 (local time) and opened fire on the villagers, killing four people and wounding three others. Authorities have deployed additional security personnel to the area following the incident.
A heightened security presence is to be expected and similar attacks are possible in Benue state in the near term.
