On Friday, May 22, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced that the second round of municipal elections would go ahead on June 28. The elections, initially set for March 22, were postponed due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) concerns. Philippe stated that the elections could be postponed once again should health advisors warn that holding the polls is too dangerous.
