Security forces killed three militants believed to be linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group during clashes in the Kangan area of Pulwama district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Wednesday, June 3. Government forces were fired upon whilst conducting a search operation in the area following reports of a local militant presence. Police found arms and ammunition at the scene following the exchange of fire.
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are anticipated in the area, and further clashes remain possible in the near term.
Individuals in Jammu and Kashmir territory are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments. Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
