Nigeria Alerte de sécurité

Islamic Movement of Nigeria protest in Abuja on June 22; avoid the area

TIMEFRAME expected from 22/6/2020, 12h00 until 27/6/2020, 11h59 (Africa/Lagos). COUNTRY/REGION Abuja

On Monday, June 22, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) held a protest in Abuja between Wuse Market and the Berger roundabout on Herbert Macaulay Way. Security forces were reportedly deployed to the scene to disperse the protesters. Clashes between security forces and demonstrators, should they not disperse, cannot be ruled out.

Disruption to transport should be expected in the near term.

IMN has been known to engage in protests in Abuja and other states in northern Nigeria over the detention of its leader and his wife since 2015.

Individuals in Nigeria are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid protests and demonstrations, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
