Israel Alerte de sécurité

LGBTQ+ rallies planned in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Beersheba on June 28; avoid all protests and rallies as a precaution

TIMEFRAME expected from 28/6/2020, 12h00 until 30/6/2020, 11h59 (Asia/Tel_Aviv). COUNTRY/REGION West Bank

Event

LGBTQ+ pride rallies have been planned to take place in major cities on Sunday, June 28, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Beersheba. The annual Pride Parades, which have previously taken place in these locations, were initially canceled due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. Media sources suggest that replacement rallies will be held on Sunday and that the events are planned in accordance with COVID-19 regulations. According to media sources, local authorities have warned of far-right groups seeking to infiltrate planned rallies and demonstrations. The Jewish far-right Lehava group have planned to disrupt the pro-LGBTQ+ event taking place at Open House Jerusalem on Sunday.

Additional rallies and counter-protests should be anticipated in major cities. A heightened security presence is also expected.

Advice

Individuals in Israel are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
