On Wednesday, July 1, militants killed a member of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and wounded three others in an attack on a highway in the Sopore area of Baramulla district (Jammu and Kashmir territory). Security forces claim that a nearby civilian was also killed due to the firing by militants. However, family members of the victim have stated that the civilian was killed by CRPF forces. Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to find those responsible, and some areas have been cordoned off as part of the operation.
Similar militant attacks are possible in Jammu and Kashmir territory over the near term.
Individuals in Jammu and Kashmir territory are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
