At least one soldier was injured following the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Gangoo area of Pulwama district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Sunday, July 5. The device, thought to be placed by local militants, exploded on the Srinagar-Pulwama road as security forces were operating in the area. Another IED was found following the blast, and the area is currently cordoned off.
Similar security operations are possible in Jammu and Kashmir territory in the near term.
Individuals in Jammu and Kashmir territory are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
