Heavy rainfall in Gujarat state over the past few days has led to over a thousand people being evacuated from low-lying areas as of Tuesday, July 7. Residents of Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Porbandar districts have been moved to safety. Over the past three days the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has had to rescue 11 people in Jamnagar and five from Porbandar due to flooding.

More rainfall is forecast through Wednesday, July 8, and further associated disruptions to travel and business operations should be expected.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
