An explosion reportedly killed seven people at an oil facility in Delta state on Tuesday, July 7. The blast occurred as a ladder was being installed at the facility in the Gbetiokun oil field, near the Benin river. The bodies of those killed were transferred to a morgue in Sapele. All remaining workers are accounted for.

Expect localized disruptions to transport and oil operations in the near term as investigations and clear-up operations continue.  


Those in Delta state are advised to monitor developments, avoid the area, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
