Nationwide protests are scheduled to take place across urban centers of Brazil on Sunday, July 12. The protests are reportedly being held to denounce President Jair Bolsonaro's response to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The demonstration has been organized by supporters of the Unified Workers' Central (CUT) union, in addition to other labor unions. The events are expected to be well attended and localized travel disruption should be anticipated.
Further protests are possible in the near term.
Individuals in Brazil are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
