Officials issued weather warnings for thunderstorms and torrential hail in south and central Alberta province that may affect the area until late Sunday evening (local time), July 12. Authorities have warned that residents should be prepared for strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and hail that could damage property in several areas of Alberta, including the city of Calgary. Residents are being advised to take cover in case of severe weather and also anticipate lighting strikes.

A tornado alert was also issued for the area earlier on Sunday but called off shortly after.


Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions and flight reservations before setting out, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
