Demonstrators are expected to gather in Beirut on Tuesday, July 28, at Palais De Justice and later on Tuesday in front of the National Museum. According to media sources, anti-government protesters planned to congregate at 10:00 (local time) at Palais De Justice to demand the release of recently detained activists. Additionally, reports on social media indicate that a sit-in demonstration has been planned from 17:30 in front of the National Museum calling for affordable housing as thousands are at risk of eviction or displacement amid the country's worsening economic situation.

A heightened security presence and localized transport disruption are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations. Additional protests and associated disruptions are possible in the capital.

Recent protests have been denouncing ongoing economic hardship in Lebanon, the fall in the value of the Lebanese pound, and the rise in the cost of goods. The value of the Lebanese pound hit a record low on the black market on June 30, as the government raised the price of bread and announced that soldiers would stop receiving meat in their meals. Supermarkets have been pictured with empty shelves and retailers have closed stores following a rush to purchase goods, such as candles, flour, and yeast, amid rising prices.

Those in Lebanon are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities. Individuals in Beirut are advised to confirm doctor's appointments and anticipate longer waiting times in medical facilities for the duration of the protests.
