A grenade blast killed at least three people and injured eight others on Thursday, August 13, in the Gahahe area of Ntahangwa commune in Bujumbura province. Media sources indicate that a grenade was thrown towards a hairdressing salon in the area, which subsequently killed and wounded several minors in the vicinity. The motive for the attack is not yet clear and no one has yet claimed responsibility. According to sources, local residents in the area believe the owner of the salon was the likely target. This is yet to be verified and local police have begun investigations into the incident.
