On Sunday, August 23, pro-government forces killed at least five Houthi rebels during clashes in Hudaydah province. Reports indicate that the government forces targeted a Houthi vehicle carrying five fighters which was attempting to infiltrate Al Tuhayta district, south of Hudaydah. There were no immediate reports of casualties from government forces.
Further military operations and retaliatory attacks are likely in the area in the near term.
Due to poor security conditions, many Western governments strongly advise their citizens against all travel to Yemen. Travel to the country should only be considered with proper security protocols in place. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
