Italian authorities announced on Thursday, September 10, that explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) personnel are set to remove an unexploded World War II bomb in Palermo. The device is located near the port area of the city and is scheduled to be removed on Sunday, September 13. Officials have announced that entry to areas within 1300 feet (400 meters) of the port will be prohibited from 06:00 to 09:00 (local time) on Sunday, with all movements within the area being banned from 09:00 until the operation is complete.

Associated business and transportation disruptions are to be anticipated near the port area.


Those in Palermo are advised to monitor the situation, avoid the area, anticipate transportation disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
