Turkish forces reportedly deployed tear gas to disperse protesters that had gathered in the northern countryside of Hama (Hama Governate) on Friday, September 18. The pro-government demonstrators were reportedly calling for the departure of the Turkish soldiers in the area and greater Syria. Currently, there have been no reported injuries as a result of the clashes between the two groups.
Further associated protests are likely in the near term.
Due to extremely poor security conditions, Western governments generally advise against all travel to Syria, with some banning travel to the country completely. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to any travel to Syria.
