Event

Police in Paris have detained a suspect after an earlier knife attack in the city's 11th arrondissement on Friday, September 25. The incident occurred on Rue Nicolas Appert, off Boulevard Richard Lenoir at around 11:45 (local time). Four people were reportedly injured in the attack, two seriously. Following initial reports that there was more than one attacker, authorities have said that this is false and there is no longer any threat to the public. The motive for the attack has not been confirmed but the incident occurred close to the former offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, where 12 people were killed in a terrorist attack in 2015. A trial related to this attack is currently ongoing in the capital.

A heightened security presence and overland disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the incident in the coming hours as investigations into the attack continue.

Advice

Those in Paris are advised to closely monitor the situation, avoid the area, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
