Nationwide opposition protests have been called for Tuesday, September 29, throughout urban centers of Guinea. The demonstrations have been called by the National Front of the Defence of the Constitution (FNDC), a coalition of nongovernmental groups and opposition parties. A demonstration in Conakry will be a march that will begin at the Tannerie roundabout and proceed to the Palais du Peuple government building. Related demonstrations are expected throughout other cities, including Nzerekore, Labe, and Boke.
A heightened security presence and localized transport disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the protest.
Individuals in Guinea are advised to monitor developments, anticipate disruptions to transport, avoid large gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions by local authorities.
