Reports of several IDF rounds detonated near Erbil International Airport on September 30; further attacks possible in the near term

Reports indicate that at least four possible indirect fire (IDF) rounds detonated in close proximity of Erbil International Airport (EBL) at approximately 21:01 (local time) on Wednesday, September 30. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the rounds may have detonated in the area of Gazna, located around 4 km (2.5 mi) north of the airport. 

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the incident in the near term, along with localized transport disruptions.  


Those in the affected areas are advised to monitor developments, avoid the affected area, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
