Event

A blast that occurred in Mogadishu's Howlwadaag district at 10:47 (local time) on Thursday, October 1, resulted in the death of a commander of the National Intelligence and Security Agency. Reports suggest that the explosion was a suicide bombing that occurred in the vicinity of the Black Sea Junction near the Bakara Market. At least two other people were injured in the incident. No group has currently claimed responsibility for the attack.

Localized disruptions are likely in the area in the near term due to the ongoing security response and clean up operations.
