At least ten villages in the Skopinsky district of Russia's Ryazan Oblast have been evacuated on Wednesday, October 7, after a fire broke out at a military ammunition storage depot. The nearby E119 highway has also been closed. Multiple explosions were reported at the site near Shelemishevo after a bushfire spread into the facility, with witnesses reporting dozens of blasts from detonating ammunition. However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties from the incident. Dozens of servicemen are reported to be tackling the fire, with three helicopters involved in the firefighting efforts.

Localized travel and business disruptions are likely to continue in the Skopinsky district in the near term amid the ongoing emergency response operations.  


Those in the Skopinsky district are advised to monitor developments, remain indoors with doors and windows closed, and heed any directives issued by local authorities, including evacuation orders.
