Anti-government protests are scheduled to take place throughout urban centers of Brazil on Sunday, October 18. The demonstrations are being organized by the Vem Pra Rua group to protest against corruption. Some of the larger demonstrations are set to take place at the National Theater in Brasilia, at Charles Miller Square-Pacaembú in Sao Paulo, and Toledo Barros Square in Limeira. All demonstrations are scheduled to start at 10:00 (local time), and will likely be well attended.
A heightened security presence and associated travel disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations.
Those in Brazil are advised to monitor the situation, avoid demonstrations and large scale gatherings, and heed any instructions issued by local authorities.
