French police reportedly killed a knife-wielding man on the streets of Montfavet district of Avignon on Thursday, October 29, after he attempted to attack officers around 11:15 (local time). According to police, the man had earlier threatened passersby with a knife and possibly a handgun. The man was shot dead after engaging police. No one else was reportedly injured in the incident. An investigation is ongoing as the latest attack comes hours after a similar attack in Nice where three people were killed and multiple others were injured.   

Police operations are ongoing in the Montfavet area of Avignon and localized disruptions are likely in the near term.
