Authorities in the city of Raleigh (North Carolina) have announced that a 22:00 to 05:00 (local time) curfew will be in place on Friday, October 30, in anticipation of scheduled protests in the city, which are being held in solidarity with the ongoing protests in Philadelphia over the police killing of a black man. Hundreds of protesters have been arrested during the unrest in Philadelphia, and dozens of police officers injured.
With the exception of emergency response personnel, news media staff, those traveling to or from work, and those experiencing an emergency, no individual may be on the streets or use any form of public or private transport during the curfew hours.
A heightened police presence and transportation disruptions are expected in the city.
Those in Raleigh are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate localized disruptions, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
