A government vehicle transporting the newly appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs was reportedly targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on Thursday, November 5, in the Hodan district of Mogadishu. The minister reportedly survived the bombing which occurred at around 20:00 (local time) between the KM4 and Tarabunka junctions, but it is currently unclear whether there were any civilian casualties from the incident.

Security and clean-up operations are likely in the vicinity of the incident in the near term, with an associated risk of localized disruptions.  


Those in Mogadishu are advised to avoid the area of the incident in the immediate term, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
