At least two Somali National Army (SNA) troops were killed and nine others were injured in an explosion on the outskirts of Dhusamareb (Galmudug state) on Tuesday, November 10. A military vehicle patrolling in Sinadaqo near Dhuusamareeb Airport reportedly struck an improvised explosive device (IED). The incident occurred shortly after 12:00 (local time). No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Al-Shabaab militants are active in the area and frequently carry out attacks against government troops.
Further attacks and clashes between security forces and Al-Shabaab militants are likely in the region in the near term.
Al-Shabaab continues to control large areas of southern and central Somalia and attacks from the group are frequent across the country, including in Mogadishu. The group often targets government officials and military infrastructure in a bid to topple the Western and UN-backed government
Those in the area are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
