A radio reporter was killed after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in Lashkargah (Helmand province) on Thursday, November 12. The incident occurred in police district 1 (PD1). The device was magnetically attached to Elyas Dayee's vehicle before being detonated. Three others were wounded in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which was the latest in a series of incidents targeting media workers.

Further attacks are likely to occur in Helmand province and across Afghanistan over the medium term.
