Authorities have announced that a number of arrests were carried out during a counter-terrorism operation in Vladimir Oblast on Wednesday, November 25. Security forces stated that those detained were believed to have been linked to the Islamic State (IS) militant group and that they had been allegedly planning to carry out an attack in Moscow. At least one improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from the scene of the raid.
Further operations are to be anticipated in the near term.
Those in Russia are advised to monitor developments to the situation and report all suspicious objects and behaviour to the authorities.
