Protest reported at Igbinedion University Benin City on December 2; avoid protest sites

Protests have been reported in the vicinity of Igbinedion University, on Mission Road in Okada, Benin City, Edo State, Dec. 2. Academic staff and students are reportedly protesting against the non-payment of wages and other stipends. Some roads in the vicinity of the facility have been blocked with burning debris. Protesters have threated to hold additional protests if their concerns are not resolved. There are currently no reports of clashes.
Security forces are likely to deploy to the facility in the coming hours. Transport disruptions are possible in the vicinity of all associated gatherings. Clashes between security forces and protesters are possible, particularly if demonstrators become overly disruptive.
