United States: Two subway cars derail in Manhattan June 27; A, B, C, D lines affected

Two New York City subway cars derail in Harlem after a train strikes a tunnel wall on the morning of June 27; service on A, B, C, D lines disrupted.

According to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, a Brooklyn-bound A train in the New York City subway system derailed in Harlem on the morning of Tuesday, June 27, causing damage to the tunnel, power supply, and switch system. The accident, which occurred between 135th Street and 125th Street,  resulted in at least 36 minor injuries and the evacuation of several trains. Service has been disrupted on the A, B, C, and D lines. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the derailment, nor have they stated when normal service is expected to resume.
