Republic Day celebrations are taking place throughout Italy on Friday, June 2. As the day is a public holiday, transportation disruptions are expected, such as reduced schedules. Many public service offices and business are expected to be closed or to have reduced opening times.

Numerous performances and events are taking place in cities and towns across Italy. In Rome, a military parade will go through the city center along the Via dei Fori Imperiali starting 11:00 (local time). The streets near the parade will be closed to traffic.

Context

Republic Day is celebrated on June 2 to mark the abolition of the monarchy and the creation of the Republic of Italy on June 2, 1946.
