Dutch teachers’ unions have planned a protest march in Amsterdam that will take place on Wednesday, March 14. The demonstration will last from 12:00 until 17:00 (local time) and will proceed from Waterlooplein to Museumplein. Local police anticipate a large turnout for the event and have warned that public transportation and roads may become crowded before, during, and after the event. While the protest is intended to be peaceful, clashes between demonstrators and security personnel cannot be ruled out.
The unions are calling on the government to raise salaries and improve education policies.
Individuals present in Amsterdam are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution and to anticipate localized transportation disruptions.
