A Ride for a Cause

mai 14, 2018

As a major supporter of emergency service personnel, GardaWorld’s Regional General Manager of Cash Services for Atlantic Canada, Darrell Coffin, was looking to give back to his community in Moncton, New Brunswick. In 2014, he was invited to partake in Canada’s 911 Ride in Ontario, which inspired him to replicate the event in Atlantic Canada.

Canada’s 911 Ride hosts annual police-escorted motorcycle rides to raise funds for families of fallen emergency service personnel and children who were victims of violent crimes. In addition, the foundation works in conjunction with the Mikey Network to make public access to defibrillators more readily available to help save lives.

The Ride is the perfect occasion for police officers, first responders, and everyday civilians to come together and demonstrate their support for the meaningful cause by travelling through different cities and raising awareness at pit stops and community greeting points. This annual event has drawn much interest and anticipation, and so Darrell created the Canada’s 911 Ride - Atlantic Facebook page to keep fans posted and engaged.

After learning about this cause, GardaWorld was eager to get involved and develop a partnership with Canada’s 911 Ride and has become the Title Sponsor for the event each year. To date, the Ride has placed 14 defibrillators within communities to help save lives. The 911 Team is on a mission to continue raising funds with its next event, taking place in Saint John, NB June 9-10, 2018.
