In 2013, GardaWorld and Bank of America signed a game-changing cash vault outsourcing agreement. The conversion—32 vaults in all—is one of the most complex undertakings in the history of the cash services industry.

On the weekend of January 31st, the company completed its largest Bank of America cash vault conversion to-date in Los Angeles, California. This was the largest vault ever to be outsourced in the US, making it the leading cash vault conversion in the world.

On the weekend of January 31st, the company completed its largest Bank of America cash vault conversion to-date in Los Angeles, California. This was the largest vault ever to be outsourced in the US, making it the leading cash vault conversion in the world.

The sheer volume and fact that every process was impacted made this the World Series of conversions.

Over 150 employees were trained on new cash vault and check imaging systems and transitioned from the Bank of America systems to the GardaWorld systems in a 48 hour period.

“This vault had a phenomenal employee base who were willing to do anything to make the conversion a success, “said Shawn Kruger, Director of Cash Vault Services. “ Twenty additional employees, who weren’t even scheduled, came in on Super Bowl Sunday just to get more practice and build their confidence on the new systems.”

The teamwork and extensive planning drove the successful conversion making it a homerun.

“Every minute of our day was planned down to the half hour and our constant communication with the Bank of America team helped us stay on track and really move the conversion along, creating a seamless customer experience,” continued Kruger.

With only a few bumps along the way, the L.A. vault was back to business as usual on the third day and continues to increase its productivity daily.

“Our L.A. team really hit it out of the park,” said Shellie Crandall, Senior Vice President, GardaWorld Cash Vault Services. “The teamwork, regional support and our close partnership with Bank of America made the experience a real game-changer.”
