Bringing awareness to ALS: One ice bucket at a time

On August 29th, GardaWorld President and COO, Chris Jamroz participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The social media trend challenges people to either dump a bucket of ice water over their head or make a donation to the ALS Association. The challenge is bringing awareness across the country to ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The disease is a progressive and usually fatal disorder that attacks the nerves and muscles.

With over 60 Boca Raton home office employees in attendance, Chris spoke about how ALS is close to his heart. “I had a dear friend pass from this horrible disease. She fought a good fight and I want to continue her fight by bringing awareness to ALS.”

Chris participated in the challenge and also made a personal donation. After the event employees in Boca Raton also donated money to the ALS Association.

Even though the water dampened Chris, it couldn’t dampen his spirits, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
