One connected security program for Canada’s operating environments

Across Canada’s mining, industrial and commercial sectors, security is often delivered through separate services: guards at entrances, cameras across a property, alarms that generate alerts and response teams working from different information. When those elements do not connect, teams can lose visibility, duplicate effort, or take longer to act.
Integrated Security Solutions (ISS) brings security professionals, technology, remote monitoring and response into one coordinated operating model. GardaWorld Security builds each program around an organization’s risks, environment and operations. The goal is to make information useful: technology can identify and verify activity, trained professionals can apply judgement, and clear escalation paths can connect observations to action.
Connect coverage across complex sites
At a remote mine, distance and changing work schedules can make continuous on-site coverage difficult. Access control and gate management can be coordinated with mobile patrols, remote video monitoring or mobile surveillance units to extend visibility across large or isolated areas. If power or data infrastructure is limited, mobile units can provide coverage in locations where conventional systems are difficult to install. Verified alerts can be directed to the appropriate security professional for assessment and response.
Industrial facilities face a different mix of exposure. Perimeters, yards, equipment and active work zones may need different levels of attention at different times. Connecting monitoring with an on-site presence can help identify unauthorized activity, direct personnel toward priority areas and reduce reliance on repetitive patrols alone. This lets a visible security professional focus on response and site needs while monitoring extends awareness across the property.
A Canadian industrial site illustrates how a coordinated model can change coverage.
The site was experiencing unauthorized entries by people using structures and equipment for parkour. Its existing two-guard model provided a consistent presence but limited visibility across the full property. GardaWorld Security deployed five mobile surveillance units alongside one on-site security professional. Live monitoring supported detection, verification and escalation, while the professional responded to alerts and maintained a visible presence.
Results:
-34%
reduced annual security costs
-50%
fewer on-site security hours
Make parking areas part of the plan
Parking environments can be especially difficult to secure. Surface lots may sit far from main buildings, have limited infrastructure and experience different patterns of use throughout the day and night. At a major Canadian airport, vehicle and catalytic converter thefts were occurring across large lots on the outskirts of the property, where power and data were unavailable. Two mobile surveillance units brought solar-powered video detection and remote monitoring to targeted high-risk areas.
Monitoring helped teams detect and verify suspicious activity and connect it to an appropriate response. Recorded video also supported law enforcement investigations. After the initial program, the airport expanded deployment to more than 10 mobile surveillance units across additional parking areas. The brochure reports a 92% reduction in incidents within six months, as well as five arrests supported by video evidence. The example shows how mobile technology, monitoring and human response can work together where fixed infrastructure is not available.
Commercial properties also benefit from coverage shaped around how people use each site. Offices, retail locations, mixed-use developments and parking areas have distinct access patterns, operating hours and service needs. A coordinated program can account for shift changes, deliveries, visitor traffic and quieter periods, helping teams maintain visibility across transitions while keeping employee, customer and visitor experience in view.
Build around operations, then adapt
Integration does not mean applying the same package everywhere. It means selecting and coordinating the capabilities that fit the site, then adjusting them as conditions change. An organization may combine security professionals, mobile patrols, access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarms, remote monitoring or mobile surveillance units. The right mix depends on site layout, risk, operating schedules, infrastructure and the response resources available.
A connected model also supports clearer accountability. When one partner coordinates the program, teams have a defined path for sharing observations, escalating verified events and reviewing performance. Leaders can see where coverage is working, where gaps remain and whether resources are positioned where they deliver value. Over time, incident patterns and operational changes can inform adjustments to staffing, monitoring and response.
