Recently, Luis Mercado, a Garda Cash Logistics employee out of our Fairfield, NJ branch, completed the American Lung Association’s 2013 Fight for Air Climb in memory of his son, Erik Mercado.  Luis’ son passed away last year due to an asthma attack at the age of 29.

“I don’t want another family to go through what we have to go through every day.  Asthma is something that affects me personally, and many of our extended family members,” said Luis.

Garda is proud to support Luis in his quest to raise awareness about asthma, fund asthma research and advocate for cleaner air.

There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of my son.  My heart hurts and I just wish there was something that we could have done,” added Luis.

The Fight for Air Climb raised more than $18,000 to benefit the American Lung Association. The event took place at the Harborside Financial Center in Jersey City, NJ on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
