On January 14, Luc Dupont, Vice President, Protection Services – Quebec Region, Pierre-François Hervieux, Senior Director and Raynald Lapierre, Coordinator, operational strategies, got involved for a second consecutive year with Janik Fortin’s social initiative for homeless people.

The GardaWorld team collected hundreds of coats, boots and warm sweaters coming from old company uniforms to distribute them to those in need. With the support of the headquarters’ cafeteria in Montreal, Kitchen 73, GardaWorld also offered soup to over 300 people.

Before the event even started, at the corner of Berri and Ste-Catherine streets, in front of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church, many homeless people were lined up, looking for warm clothes to help them through the cold season.

With the help of countless volunteers, coats, boots, sleeping bag, blankets, gloves, toques, personal care products, backpacks, and more have been distributed to people in need. In addition, some $ 1,800 were raised and distributed as meal vouchers to the homeless people gathered for the occasion. The organizer of the event, Janik Fortin believes her event has helped more than 400 people in need, an increase of 400% since her first similar event 4 years ago. The surplus will be donated to various community organizations in Montreal and in surrounding areas.
