Every year, McKay Métis Group recognizes the hard work and commitment of business partners that contribute to the success of the organization. The group thanked them for their ongoing support with a Sash ceremony during the opening of this year’s McKay Metis Days on August 25th.

During this ceremony, Mr. Cy King, Vice President and Senior Advisor, Industrial Project and Aboriginal Relations at GardaWorld, was honored with a sash embroidered on his behalf testifying to his support and work for the Fort Mckay community.

McKay Métis Group is a social enterprise that provides services and generates revenue in support of the economically and socially prosperous Fort McKay Métis community.

The mission of the group is to foster a culture of safety through the proactive cultivation of an environment that identifies and manages risk. Besides, the McKay Métis Group aims for the recognition, evaluation, and education of their employees and clients in compliance with federal and provincial safety regulation and legislation.
They strive to be the leading community-owned Aboriginal business in the region promoting quality, safety, and accountability.

Lately, The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and the President of the Métis National Council, Clément Chartier, welcomed the signing of the Canada-Métis Nation Accord during the first Métis Nation-Crown Summit in Ottawa. The Accord marks a significant step towards a renewed government-to-government relationship based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation, and partnership.

As Fort McMurray’s partner of choice for Aboriginal communities since the late 1990’s, GardaWorld is deeply involved in growing healthy business relationships locally. We are dedicated to promoting the most advanced safety norms, various training opportunities, and employment partnerships.

Being recognized by our partner, the McKay Métis Group, is an honor that we are proud of, and that encourages us to keep building an inclusive marketplace.
