The City of Ottawa had planned numerous activities to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. Thousands of people from all over the country and elsewhere were expected to participate in the most anticipated event of the year. Security was paramount.

Starting Thursday, the GardaWorld team in Ottawa started to onboard security guards who came from all over Ontario to support the local workforce. Our security services were required from Friday June 30th to Tuesday July 4th with more than 100 agents per day at various locations around the city.

Due to recent terrorists events, security was increased on sensitive sites – particularly, Parliament Hill. The RCMP, GardaWorld and another security provider were screening participants entering the area: around 50 of our security guards per shift carried out bag checks for more than 500,000 people.

In total, the GardaWorld team worked more than 3,900 hours over the course of 5 days ensuring that all festivities went smoothly. We are very proud of their work and thankful to have been involved in such a memorable event!

Once again, Happy Canada Day from all of us at GardaWorld!
