Imagine encountering this vehicle as you drive down the road!  From 1968 to 1974, it was a familiar sight rumbling along a 500 kilometer route from Quebec City to Eastern Quebec transporting cash to banks throughout the region for Caisses Polulaires Desjardins under the name SDL ( Sécurité Desjardins Limité). In 2003, GardaWorld acquired Secur, the armored car division of Desjardins, marking its ninth acquisition and entry into the cash services market in Canada with a 70% share of the Quebec market.

“It was a very expensive truck to operate,” noted Marcel Gagnon, Shooting Instructor for GardaWorld Protective Services in Canada, who researched the origins of the vehicle.  It got an impressive 3 miles per gallon and boasted a 308 caliber gun mounted on its turret. From 1974 to 1976, the truck served as a stationary vault outside a bank for Wells Fargo Armored Car in Montreal.
