For the third consecutive year, Catherine Ricard-Bourget, GardaWorld’s Manager for Financial Services, will be participating in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau’s “Trek for Courage”. More than 600 cyclists will ride up to 600 km across the province of Quebec to raise money for children with cancer between July 3-6, 2018. Catherine increased her goal from last year, vowing to raise $5,000 and take on 300km in just two days.
“This cause is close to my heart,” Catherine explains, “Children shouldn’t be afraid to die. I am lucky to be healthy and have a healthy family, and I don’t take this for granted. With the money raised from this trek, children will be able to receive state-of-the-art care to help them win their battle against cancer.”
By giving, you are directly contributing to a healthy future for the 2,000 children with cancer who are being treated each year in Quebec. Know that your efforts will make a huge difference. Since 1980, the cure rate for the most common type of cancer, leukemia, has increased from 35% to nearly 85%. These promising advances are currently guiding researchers towards two goals: to cure the nearly 20% of children whose cancer is resistant to treatment and to improve the quality of life of children in remission so that they can achieve real recovery, without the negative after-effects or complications - a reality that is not talked about enough.
GardaWorld is pleased to support this cause and recently presented a cheque in the amount of 2,800$ to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation. Furthermore, all employees at the Montreal GardaWorld head office who wish to wear jeans on Fridays in the month of June will be contributing a minimum donation of 2$ to support Catherine’s mission.
