GardaWorld: Retrospective 2022 - The Pope's visit

December 20, 2022

A unique opportunity during the Pope's visit to Canada

As the year 2022 draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to look back on our victories and proud moments.

This summer, we had the unique opportunity to provide security for Pope Francis' visit to Canada. For this occasion, we trained 42 members of the Louis Bull Tribe, one of the four Maskwacis Nations, to provide security for the Pope's visit to Alberta, allowing this historic event to go smoothly.

Members of BEST, a division of GardaWorld, provided security for the events that took place in Quebec City a few days later.

A successful mandate for GardaWorld

"The company has a national strategy to build relationships with Aboriginal communities, train their members and provide career opportunities for potential employees," said Scott Young, GardaWorld's Vice President for the Prairie Region.

For this special occasion, security had to be heightened for possible protests near the sites of the papal visits and across Canada, especially in front of government buildings, Catholic churches and important historical sites.

The Pope's visit went off without a hitch and GardaWorld employees were able to demonstrate their professionalism and efficiency, as well as add their participation in this unique event to their resumes!

Some members of the Louis Bull tribe have expressed that this high-profile experience taught them a few tricks of the trade and was a unique opportunity, both personally and professionally.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this historic collaboration!
