GardaWorld screened more than 8,000 people for Barack Obama’s conference in Montreal

June 9, 2017

Barack Obama’s conference at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal on June 6 attracted more than 8,000 participants in an electric atmosphere. GardaWorld was managing the access to the venue and the security of the participants.

Approximately 20 security guards controlled access to the conference room by using 10 walk-through metal detectors, several handheld metal detectors, and searching bags and jackets small enough to not require being left at the cloakroom.

The event security team was also present to patrol the surroundings of the conference room, as well as inside during the entire appearance of Barack Obama. They walked continuously in the aisles and near the doors to monitor any suspicious activity.

Finally, several operations managers were at the Palais des Congrès before and during the event to ensure streamlined communication between our teams and the Palais’s.

This hands-on supervision of our security professionals allowed them to screen more than 8,000 participants in less than the two hours originally planned. Participants were able to settle in time and fully enjoy this exceptional moment.

Congrats to our people for their great work for such one-of-a-kind event! We are proud of you!
