Every year, approximately 500 business leaders from the Saskatoon area gather for the NSBA (North Saskatoon Business Association Supporting Saskatoon) gala event.

The evening aims to reward the achievements of the companies that are members of the association. In total, 13 distinguished awards are presented in a variety of categories.

This year, GardaWorld Protective Services has been nominated for the Safe Employer Award. This prize is awarded to the NSBA business that exemplifies and promotes safety in the workplace. Amongst the criteria to choose a winner, the committee looks for a company that:

• Processes in place to promote safety and hold all employees accountable for creating a safe workplace.
• Management commitment to continuous improvement in their safety management systems through ongoing evaluation of both internal and external factors that impact health and safety of company employees and customers.
• Demonstrable training and awareness in areas of hazard identification and control.
• Established health and safety processes and emergency preparedness methods to effectively deal with incidents resulting in injury to employees or customers.
